Hi. John Peterson from Best Practice. I’d like to discuss with you today the importance of the role that personal development plays within mastering your own business.

(Importance of Personal Development)

 

One of the things I’ve learned is that if the business owner is not growing as an individual, then it’s very difficult for their business to grow and thrive. What I mean by that is that if you really want to have a business that one day is going to work for you so that you don’t have to work for it, then personal growth and self-development, personal development, is in fact quite essential to that journey. The business owner’s state of mind really creates limitations or the expansion of the business. The more that you’re personally growing, personally developing and expanding your own horizons, the more limitless your attitude will be towards the opportunities for your business.

 

(Your Growth = Business Growth)

 

So your self-esteem will also help you to propel the business along. But the other thing that happens is you create more freedom, more opportunity for people underneath you within your own business for them to grow as well.

 

(Your Growth = Team Growth)

 

If they’re not growing, typically, your business is not growing. Otherwise, what happens is you do all the work, you do all the development of the business, and you end up on a cheese wheel working really long hours and burning yourself out. Whereas instead, what we really want is to create a business that evolves underneath you and with you, including a talented team. If you want a talented team to passionately help you take your business where you want it to go, then one of the most important things is to ask yourself how much you have been committed to the development of your own self in your own journey, not just making money.
